Look for a separate Steam library entry named WARDOGS Playtest, not just the main WARDOGS store app. The official community feed now says pre-load is available for players who have access, while the broader Closed Beta still runs under the August 21-23 window already listed on Steam.

If WARDOGS Playtest is missing, that does not prove the beta is broken for everyone. It usually means the current Steam account has not received access yet, is on the chance-based signup route, or needs the Steam client refreshed after the license is granted.

How to check the preload safely

Use Steam itself as the install source. Do not download a beta installer, mirrored client, or key tool from a third-party page. The official post tells players to check Steam for access, and the Steam store remains the primary record for the product and current purchase or request controls.

The current operational clue is the title WARDOGS Playtest. That separate test client is the item players should search for in Library once access has been granted.

1. Open the Steam client with the same account used for the pre-order, Playtest request, or previous test access.
2. Search your Library for WARDOGS Playtest.
3. If it appears, install or update it before the beta window opens.
4. If it does not appear, restart Steam and re-check the official WARDOGS Steam community post before trying anything outside Steam.

What not to do
